NEW YORK — Turner Construction Company announced Monday it has acquired the Florida operations of DPR Construction, adding approximately $890 million in annual Florida construction revenue, 340 employees, and a strong healthcare and life sciences project portfolio to Turner’s Southeast regional footprint.

Terms of the transaction, which closed March 14, 2026, were not disclosed. DPR Construction, a national employee-owned firm headquartered in Redwood City, California, is retaining its operations in all other markets. DPR’s Florida team, based in Sarasota with offices in Tampa and Orlando, will operate under the Turner Construction brand beginning April 1.

“DPR built an exceptional Florida operation with particular strength in technically complex healthcare and research facilities,” said Turner Construction CEO Karl Almstead. “Their team’s expertise in mission-critical construction is highly complementary to our existing Florida portfolio.”

The acquisition gives Turner a leading position in Florida’s healthcare construction sector, where DPR has completed major projects for Sarasota Memorial Hospital, BayCare Health System, and Orlando Health. DPR Florida’s backlog at closing includes $1.4 billion in healthcare and biotech projects under contract.

DPR Florida Managing Director James Sherrill will join Turner as Senior Vice President and head of Turner’s Florida Healthcare and Life Sciences practice. Sherrill said the combination will allow the Florida team to pursue larger, more complex projects than DPR’s employee-ownership model could independently finance.

Turner’s Florida operations — previously centered in Miami, Orlando, and Jacksonville — generated approximately $1.2 billion in revenue in 2025. The combined entity is expected to exceed $2 billion in annual Florida revenue, making it the largest general contractor by volume in the state.
