AMETEK has successfully completed its acquisition of FARO Technologies, valued at $920 million. This strategic move enhances AMETEK’s Ultra Precision Technologies Division, bringing together advanced 3D measurement solutions to bolster operational capabilities. Following the acquisition, FARO will operate within AMETEK’s umbrella alongside Creaform and Virtek, aiming to improve service offerings and customer experience in various industries. The collaboration is expected to propel AMETEK’s market presence and sustain double-digit growth in earnings as they focus on innovation and expansion.
AMETEK has finalized its acquisition of FARO Technologies, a significant addition to its Ultra Precision Technologies Division. The deal, valued at $44 per share in cash, totals approximately $920 million after accounting for cash acquired. This acquisition marks a strategic move for AMETEK, reflecting its commitment to enhance operational capabilities in the precision measurement sector.
The transaction received necessary approvals from FARO shareholders as well as all required regulatory bodies, paving the way for AMETEK to integrate FARO Technologies fully into its operations. Following this merger, FARO’s common stock will no longer be traded on Nasdaq, officially ending its run as an independent entity.
FARO Technologies, recognized for its advanced expertise in 3D measurement and imaging solutions, will join forces with Creaform and Virtek under the AMETEK umbrella. Together, these three companies will form a comprehensive suite of offerings that includes portable and automated 3D metrology, laser projection, and digital reality solutions. This integration is designed to bolster AMETEK’s market presence, enhancing its ability to deliver high-quality measurement solutions.
Before the acquisition, FARO reported annual sales of approximately $340 million. This solid financial performance strengthens AMETEK’s already impressive yearly sales total, which hovers around $7 billion. By bringing FARO into its fold, AMETEK not only expands its product portfolio but also enhances its expertise in precision measurement technology.
AMETEK’s growth strategy incorporates a focus on operational excellence, technology innovation, and market expansion. With initiatives such as this acquisition, the company anticipates achieving double-digit percentage growth in earnings per share throughout various business cycles. The integration of FARO is expected to support AMETEK’s ambitions in key applications across various industries, including industrial manufacturing, architecture, engineering, construction, and public safety.
While FARO, Creaform, and Virtek will continue to operate independently, the merger will facilitate closer collaboration between these entities. This synergy is targeted at enhancing customer experiences and expanding service capabilities, ultimately leading to improved performance in addressing challenging 3D measurement and visualization tasks.
With the acquisition of FARO Technologies, AMETEK is poised to address complex measurement challenges across multiple applications and sectors more effectively. This strategic move not only demonstrates AMETEK’s commitment to growth and innovation but also signifies a promising future for its expanded Ultra Precision Technologies Division. By harnessing the strengths of the combined companies, AMETEK is better equipped to serve its customers’ evolving needs in a competitive market.
